Everyone starts making their own cards for a hobby or in order to save money, but a lot of people spend more money on materials for making the card then actually buying a card from a store. To avoid this situation you can effectively employ the following material; some of them cost a few bucks or nothing.
- Old wallpaper books, which are no longer in use, can be collected or found at paint and home decorating stores and they cost only a few bucks or nothing.
- Off-cuts and sample papers from your local printer.
- Bits of attractive paper culled from junk mail.
- Pictures from old magazines, calendars and greeting cards.
- Photographs can also be used for making cards.
- Little bits of ribbon, fabric, cotton balls, brass fasteners, etc.
- If you purchase some material in bulk then it will cost you less. You can have a bulk package of good quality paper, poster board that you can cut up to make a number of cards. The card stock (poster board) and the paper you have bought in bulk have many uses.
